What does the carved glass actually do to the light once it’s on?

The carved texture breaks up the light passing through the clear glass, so instead of one even glow, it „plays out patterns“ — subtle ridges and facets catch and scatter the light differently across the shade’s surface. It reads more dynamic and glamorous than a smooth, plain glass shade would, adding texture to the wall around the fixture as well as the light itself.
